Day 3 on the Camino – I think!

I have not been keeping up well with my blog. Today is day 3 of our Camino de Santiago! We are so busy from 7AM when we wake up, breakfast at 8 and then leaving hotel at 9 until dinner at 8:30PM  and then bed that it’s difficult to keep up. So quick note tonight.

There are so many beautiful cultural and scenic places to see here in Spain that it overwhelms the mind. I had no idea there was so much to see here in Spain. If you’ve only been to Madrid or Barcelona than you are missing a lot. I am so thrilled that I’m her and thanking God every day that I that I was inspired by Juli to do this and have the means to do this amazing trip.

Wilderness Travel, our tour group, is definitely a great way to plan your first Camino. The guides – Patricia and David – are absolutely amazing and they take all the work out of our vacation. Having their local expertise and relationships really makes this easy for us.

We had a good climb today to 4000 Ft and the highlight was reaching the “Iron Cross” on the Camino. This is famous for placing stones you bring with you at the base of the cross – you’ll see it in “The Way”. I brought stones from our ranch in Burnet and placed it there to leave a little piece of myself on the Camino. Here is a group picture of our Wilderness Travel team below.

Beautiful mountain scenes today, amazing meals – fresh trout for lunch, beef and potatoes for dinner, great local wines. We are staying tonight in Villa Franca in the Napa country of Spain. Walked through beautiful vineyards today on the way here. Then JT and I walked all around the town. Total of 16 miles today – enough said. Will write more late.
